Phoenix Festival
Join us for the Sixth Annual Phoenix Festival!
Be a part of a powerful gathering where we burn our dead names to symbolize embracing our true, authentic selves. This event is for all ages—bring your family and friends to support and celebrate with you!
Saturday
September 26th
1pm - 5pm
At the Prism Community Center
500 N. Western Ave. Sioux Falls, SD
This year we're excited to announce that local poet, author, and teacher, Xavier Pastrano, will be joining us to lead some creative prompts centered around your own phoenix journey. This year, we will be reflecting on and releasing not just our dead names or pronouns, but other aspects of our life that we are ready to let go of to make room for the new. We will provide origami paper and a tutorial on how to make an origami phoenix to burn, and Xavier will lead a class on journal making, sending you home with your own journal and prompts to continue where you left off reflecting throughout the year!
After the ceremony, stick around for snacks and to connect with other community members and hang out at The Prism Center! Let’s celebrate authenticity and community together. We can’t wait to see you there!
This event is part of the Prism Healing Lab event series that will be taking place throughout the fall, bringing art therapy programming to the Prism Center for personal growth and community care. Keep an eye out on our calendar and socials for other Prism Healing Lab events!
