Menopause is often seen exclusively as a women’s health issue. Most pamphlets, websites, and clinical guidelines are written with the assumption that a person experiencing menopause is cisgender, heterosexual and identifies as a woman. But the truth is, menopause—or the biological process of declining ovarian function–is experienced by transgender men, nonbinary people, and others assigned female at birth (AFAB). These journeys are often overlooked, both in research and in daily conversation.
